Freeway Shooter Targets Commuters in Inland Empire Print E-mail
Written by Administrator
Monday, 31 May 2010 11:58
California Highway Patrol is warning motorists about a freeway shooter on Inland Empire Freeways. Around 30 vehicles have had their back windshield shattered in recent weeks by what appears to be a pellet or BB gun. No one has seen the shooter and there is no obvious pattern so CHP has no nothing to go on.  The shootings do seem to occur in the same three stretches of freeway:

Interstate 15 in Cajon Pass.

Interstate 10 between the freeway interchanges in Colton and Ontario.

I-215 between the freeway interchanges in Colton and Riverside.

Anyone with information on the freeway shootings is asked to call the CHP's Inland Communication Center at 909-388-8000.

Big Bear boy Breaks Record Print E-mail
Wednesday, 26 May 2010 12:50

Jordan-RomeroJordan Romero, from Big Bear, California, became the youngest person to scale Mount Everest Saturday. He reached the 29,035-foot summit with his father Paul Romero, his father's girlfriend Karen Lundgren and three Sherpa guides.

He broke the record set by Temba Tsheri of Nepal, who reached the peak at age 16.

Romero is only one climb away from achieving his goal of climbing the highest peaks on all seven continents. The last peak is Vinson Massif in Antarctica and he hopes to conquer that sometime around the end of the year.

There had been some debate over whether a teenager should be allowed to attempt this. His Father Paul Romero told reporters "Nothing irresponsible about what we did. We were so prepared, everything went perfect. Age has nothing to do with anything,".

Romero made it off the mountain safely Wednesday and is looking forward to seeing his friends and family after the hard climb.

Suspect found in Faria Beach couple stabbing Print E-mail

Tuesday, 13 April 2010 12:13

JoshuaGrahamPackerAlmost a year after the brutal stabbing of Brock and Davina Husted, both 42, and their unborn child, a suspect has finally been arrested. Joshua Graham Packer, 20, an unemployed security guard of Ventura was charged with three counts of murder. Davina Husted was almost 5 months pregnant.

The brutal stabbings initially shocked the quiet neighborhood of Faria Beach on May 20, 2009. Authorities arrested Packer on Sunday, after linking him to the case by DNA evidence collected in a separate case. Packer was arrested in September of 2009 for a robbery at a Santa Barbara gas station and his DNA was entered into a state database. Police records also show that Packer had a violent past and was charged in Ventura County for misdemeanor battery in November and a misdemeanor hit-and-run in December.

Packer remains in jail on $2.2 million bail. The charges against the suspect aside from murder include burglary, robbery and use of a gun. Other special circumstance charges could condemn Packer to a death sentence, if convicted.
